Laramie Wheeler, DO is board certified in Family Medicine and is currently finishing her board certifications in functional medicine and anti-aging through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and the Institute of Functional Medicine.
She has always been passionate about the healing arts and has in recent years developed a special interest in cancer. In 2016 she had the opportunity to train one-on-one with a cancer specialist Boca Raton, Fl and in 2017 went on to complete the Fellowship in Integrative Cancer Therapy.
She has always been on a quest to discover the arts of true healing and believes that the most effective harmony can only be achieved when the body, spirit and mind are nourished and strengthened simultaneously. In her early teens she started independently researching different modalities worldwide including homeopathy, acupuncture, and other forms of integrative medicine.
She graduated valedictorian from Hillcrest High School and went on to earn a B.S. in zoology, with a minor in chemistry, from Brigham Young University in 2001. She then attended Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. After medical school she completed residency at Idaho State University. During her years of residency she was fortunate to be introduced to French physician Jean Claude Lapraz, founder of Endobiogeny, a holistic approach to medicine primarily focused on attaining balance of the nervous and hormonal systems using a plant-based approach.
Little did she know that her introduction to Dr. Lapraz would entirely change the course of her medical career. Under the tutelage of Dr. Lapraz, Dr. Kamyar Hedayat and herbalist Annette Davis, she grew in her knowledge of and experience with plant-based medicines and came to respect their power and place in the healing process. She completed a fellowship through the American Society of Endobiogenic and Integrative Medicine in 2014.
Through her years of practice she has continued to add to her knowledge through courses in IV nutritional therapies, ozone and oxidative treatments, nutrition, weight loss, emotional healing, energetic treatments, and aesthetics. She is an expert in treating autoimmune disease and chronic illness and is looking forward to working with the team at the Center for New Medicine.
She is married to her high school sweetheart, Josh, and together they have 6 amazing children. When she is not practicing medicine she can usually be found at the piano, cooking with her kids in the kitchen, or enjoying any moments in the sun she can get.
