Dr. Manna Semby, ND, has had a unique and interesting journey to becoming a doctor. Before pursuing a career in medicine, she worked in finance on Wall Street (Goldman Sachs) supporting their Equities trading division. Her life took an abrupt turn when her son was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2. Believing that the pediatrician would offer solutions and solace, she was deeply disappointed when she heard that there was nothing that could help her son recover.

After 10 years on Wall St, Manna decided to quit and devote herself to finding an answer to help her son. She was led to a book on Homeopathy which talked about the complete recovery of a child whose autistic characteristics had been like those of her son's. She started to research alternative, complementary and traditional medicines and found that those disciplines contained answers when conventional medicine did not.

A year later her 2nd son was also diagnosed with autism. Manna started studying homeopathy and helping her children and family. Eventually, she completed a 3-year diploma in classical homeopathy and started a small private practice.

Manna found that by the time most people came to see her, they had already been to several practitioners and doctors. But no one had been able to make a real difference in their health. They brought such complex medical histories that Manna realized she would need to go to medical school. She attended Bastyr University in California and graduated from there with a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine.

As a Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Semby believes that health begins in the mind. How we feel about ourselves and our lives is central to our health and wellbeing. No pill or therapy can alleviate the damage caused by negative thoughts and beliefs.  Lack of healthy relationships and community can make us feel lonely and disconnected. Add to this stress of various kinds and we have the perfect recipe for poor health. It is no surprise that years of stress lead to lowered immunity resulting in chronic disease, autoimmune illnesses, and cancer.

At the Center for New Medicine and Cancer Center for Healing, Dr. Semby’s focus is to help patients find the root cause of their ailments, whether mental, emotional, or physical, and help to alleviate the same. She uses a naturopathic, homeopathic, integrative, and functional medicine approach rooted in science. Dr. Semby has a special interest in cardiometabolic and endocrine issues as well as cancer.
